Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach sit right on the Atlantic, not a few miles from it, and that's the difference that drives the job. A house here takes a steady, airborne salt film even on days without a drop of rain, on top of the wind-driven rain and UV load that come with an open, unobstructed coastline. None of that is unique to one style of house — it hits older cottages and new construction the same way.
The three things a repaint here usually needs

02How is painting on the beach different from painting a few miles inland?+
Being directly on the water changes the job. Oceanfront and soundside homes take a constant, airborne salt film rather than the occasional gust an inland property sees, so metal fasteners, railings, and hardware corrode faster, and paint on sun-facing elevations chalks and fades sooner. Wind-driven rain also pushes moisture into joints that would stay dry further from the water. The prep is the same in kind as anywhere else on the coast — wash, scrape, caulk, prime — it just has to happen more often and hold up to more.
03How often does a house on Wrightsville or Carolina Beach need to be repainted?+
It depends on the elevation and how exposed it is, more than the age of the house. South- and west-facing walls that take direct sun and salt spray wear fastest, while a shaded, soundside wall on the same house can go noticeably longer. Rather than work off a fixed schedule, we look at the actual condition of the film during a walk-through and tell you where it stands.
04Do you paint second homes and rental properties on the islands?+
