Professional Coatings · Figure Eight Island
Cerro Painting is a licensed and insured painting contractor working on Figure Eight Island — a private, guard-gated barrier island reached by its own causeway bridge. Interiors, exteriors, cabinets, and community-building work, prepped for direct salt exposure and scheduled around the island's access process rather than around ours.

Local context
Figure Eight Island is a private residential island north of Wrightsville Beach, connected to the mainland by a single privately owned causeway bridge with a guardhouse controlling entry. There's no public road access — every visit, ours included, goes through that gate. The island itself is owned and administered island-wide by the Figure Eight Homeowners Association, rather than sitting under a town government the way Wrightsville Beach or Kure Beach do.
What a crew does once they're through the gate doesn't change from job to job: exterior painting, interior painting, and cabinet refinishing each follow the same scope we spell out for those services sitewide.
Before the first day
The part of a Figure Eight project that gets settled before anyone picks up a brush.
The bridge is privately owned and gated, with a guardhouse controlling who comes through. We confirm the entry process for a scheduled crew with you or your property manager ahead of the first visit, rather than assuming one.
The Figure Eight Homeowners Association owns and administers the island directly. There's no separate town layer to check with — if a color or material needs sign-off, that approval runs through the HOA or your property manager.
Many homes on the island are used seasonally. We're glad to plan a repaint around whichever weeks a property sits empty, so a project doesn't overlap with your own time there.

Shoreline conditions
Figure Eight Island faces the same open-ocean weather as anywhere on this stretch of coast, and its north end is dealing with something most of our other service areas aren't.
Nothing blocks the airborne salt film here the way an inland tree line would. It settles on siding, trim, and railings daily and has to come off in the wash, not just get coated over.
In February 2026, the NC Coastal Resources Commission approved a variance — reported by Coastal Review — allowing oversized sandbag erosion-control structures at north-end oceanfront properties, tied to years of inlet-driven shoreline loss on that stretch of the island.
Because a coating needs real cure time before weather moves in, we plan the ocean-facing side of a Figure Eight repaint around a dry stretch on the calendar, not just whenever a crew is free.
Walls that look straight out at the water take sun and salt together and show fading, chalking, and film breakdown noticeably sooner than the same house's landward side.
Figure Eight Island painting FAQ
Service area, bridge and gate access, HOA administration, and north-end shoreline exposure.
Yes. Figure Eight Island is part of our regular service area, along with Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, and Kure Beach. If you are not sure whether your address is in range, call (910) 981-1003 and we will tell you straight away.
Figure Eight Island is private property reached by a single guarded causeway bridge, with no public through-access by car. Before the first day on site, we confirm the entry process with you or your property manager — most owners arrange a standing pass or a call-ahead with the guardhouse for a scheduled crew. We work around whatever access procedure the island and your household already have in place rather than assuming one.
The Figure Eight Homeowners Association owns and administers the island directly, which is a different setup than a community HOA layered over a town government. We don't have a published island-wide architectural or color-approval process on file, so if your property is subject to one, check with the HOA office or your property manager first. Once you tell us what's approved, we'll match it and put the exact manufacturer, color, and sheen on the written estimate.
The north end faces active shoreline change. In February 2026, the NC Coastal Resources Commission approved a variance — reported by Coastal Review — allowing oversized sandbag erosion-control structures at north-end oceanfront properties, tied to inlet migration that has been eroding that stretch of beach for several years. It's a sign of how much more storm and salt exposure that end of the island takes. We treat north-end oceanfront homes like any direct-exposure coastal property: extra attention to wash and prep, and a coating system built for the load, not just the wood underneath.
Wrightsville and Carolina Beach have public roads and public beach access; Figure Eight Island doesn't. It's private property behind a guarded bridge, owned and run island-wide by its own homeowners association rather than a town. The ocean exposure that drives our prep and coating choices is the same either way — the difference is entirely in how a crew gets there and who we coordinate the schedule with.
Call (910) 981-1003 or use the form below with your best contact info and a rough idea of the scope. We'll coordinate a walk-through around your schedule and the island's access process, price the prep and coatings by scope, and send a written estimate back — usually within a business day, always free.
For questions outside island logistics, our painting FAQ has answers on coatings, timelines, and pricing, and residential painting lays out what a full home repaint includes start to finish.
