Good to know
Straight answers before we start.
The questions Wilmington homeowners and facility managers ask most, answered clearly.
01How long does an exterior repaint last near Wilmington beaches?+
With Cerro Painting's soft washing, scraping, marine-grade primers, and maintenance plan, most coastal homes see 7–9 years before a full repaint.
02How do you prepare coastal exteriors?+
We soft wash, scrape failing coatings, repair damaged siding, prime with specialty products, monitor humidity, and log cure times for every surface.
03Do you handle coatings for steel and aluminum?+
Yes. Catwalks, tanks, structural steel, and aluminum storefronts receive proper surface prep, zinc-rich primers, and urethane or epoxy finishes. We submit coating data sheets and inspection reports for your records.
04Are you licensed and insured?+
Yes. Cerro Painting carries North Carolina licensure, $2M liability coverage, workers compensation, and OSHA-compliant safety plans.
05Do you help with color selection?+
We offer on-site consultations, HOA-ready color packets, sample boards, and digital previews, and we keep color formulas on file.
06Do you work with property managers or Airbnb hosts?+
Yes. We coordinate access, share updates through Buildium/AppFolio/Slack, and deliver before/after galleries for listings and smart-home apps.
07Can you handle repairs before painting?+
Minor carpentry, drywall, trim replacement, and caulking are handled in-house. Structural issues are coordinated with trusted Wilmington partners.
08What brands of paint do you recommend?+
Sherwin-Williams Emerald, Benjamin Moore Aura, cabinet lacquers, and low-VOC or antimicrobial coatings are matched to each substrate.
09What areas do you serve?+
We cover Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Figure Eight Island, Leland, and Castle Hayne.
10How soon can you start?+
Often within just a few days. When our schedule has an opening we can get a crew started right away, and many projects begin the same week you reach out. During our busiest stretches interior work usually starts within a week or two, and exterior jobs are timed around good weather. Either way, tell us your deadline and we'll do everything we can to hit it.
11How much does it cost to paint a house in Wilmington, NC?+
Every house is priced on its own, so we don't publish a flat rate. What moves a Wilmington estimate most is square footage and ceiling height, how much prep the surfaces need after years of coastal weather (chalking, mildew, failing caulk, soft trim), the substrate — vinyl, fiber cement, wood siding, brick, and stucco all behave differently — the number of colors and coats, and access on two-story or waterfront elevations. The walk-through and the written estimate are free, and the estimate spells out the prep plan and the products so you can compare it line for line.
12When is the best time of year to paint an exterior in Wilmington?+
Spring and fall are the easiest windows on the Cape Fear coast. Exterior coatings need surface and air temperatures inside the manufacturer's range — traditionally above 50°F, though some modern products are rated lower — and they need to cure before the overnight dew point is reached, which is what makes humid mid-summer afternoons and daily thunderstorms hard to schedule around. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, so we build weather days into summer and early-fall exteriors. Interior painting runs year-round.
13Do you paint homes in Leland and Brunswick County?+
Yes. Leland is part of our regular service area, including Brunswick Forest, Magnolia Greens, and Waterford, along with Belville and the Highway 17 corridor. If you aren't sure whether your address is in range, call (910) 981-1003 and we'll tell you straight away.
